God on the Go!

Earlier this Summer, Ron Kyllo pulled me aside after church saying, “Do you remember that one seed in a bag you gave us last year?” “Yes” I replied, the mustard seed.” He then proceeded to tell me that he had actually planted that single seed and now has a beautiful plant growing in his raised garden. I couldn’t believe it! I purchased those seeds 10 years ago when I first started at Minneola and they certainly did not come from the most reputable grower. Ten years later, a single seed, a mild winter and the faith of a gardener has produced a beautiful bush growing to remind me, and I pray all of you, of the amazing presence of God in our every day lives.

It is so easy to forget about God in the midst of our to-do lists, duties, desires and longings, but Ron’s story highlights the importance of naming, claiming and proclaiming God’s presence everywhere: in our gardens, in our homes, cars, work, vacations and every place in between. A little intention, like taking the time to plant a single seed, will grow into something grand and beautiful because the Spirit of God works with the smallest of efforts to transform the world.

To help support us all in this endeavor to intentionally turn toward God throughout our busy, complex and rich lives, I have written up a resource I am calling, “God on the Go! It is a guide, available on our website, to help us take a moment to pause and turn toward God in everyday events like going on a road trip, hitting the lake, or hosting a BBQ in the backyard. It isn’t fancy or complex and I’ll keep adding options as I think of them, but in the meantime, I pray we all begin taking a moment of intention, letting the Spirit in to discover the beauty God brings forth in and FOR us, because siblings in Christ, God IS WITH US everywhere we go.

We make the road by walking…together,

Pr. Hannah
